If you’re starting or refilling a GLP-1 weight-loss medication through 9amHealth, you may notice a few new steps along the way. Your employer or health plan has added these program requirements to help make sure medications are used safely and effectively.
If you’re feeling unsure about what to do next, your 9amHealth Care Team is here to guide you every step of the way.

In this article, we’ll explain:
  • What to expect for your first refill
  • What’s required if you’re starting medication for the first time
  • How to keep your medication refills without interruption

Why these steps matter
GLP-1 medications can be a helpful tool for healthy weight loss. Many people achieve the best results when medication is combined with consistent habits such as weight tracking, nutrition support, and regular check-ins with their Care Team.
These program activities help your Care Team understand what’s working, monitor your progress, and adjust your care plan if needed.

If you’re already taking a weight-loss medication

If you are currently taking a weight-loss medication, we’ll ask you to complete a few ongoing tasks, such as:
  • Maintain up-to-date labs as requested
  • Complete a minimum of two Healthy Weight Journey modules until the initial 12 modules are complete. After the 12 modules, you will need to keep your consistency score above 50.
  • Step on your connected scale at least once per month
  • Meet with a health coach periodically based on your care plan

If you’re starting a weight-loss medication for the first time

If you are taking a weight-loss medication for the first time, your program begins with foundations. The Healthy Weight Journey modules (1 module per week for 12 weeks) help build a strong foundation before starting medication.

During this time, you’ll be asked to:
  • Complete the 12-week modules
  • Have up-to-date labs on file
  • Attend scheduled Care Team visits as part of your program
  • Submit at least one weight per month (in addition to your starting weight)
The specific tasks may differ depending on your program and health journey. The easiest way to track your progress is in the 9amHealth app (available on your app store). Where you can see all open tasks and upcoming program activities.

No matter where you are in your weight-loss journey, our Care Team will regularly ask you to answer a few questions to review your progress and adjust treatments. If you decide to work with or providers, the team may reach out to schedule a virtual call with you to discuss next steps.

How to keep your medication refills without interruption

To continue refilling your medication, the program uses a Consistency Score in the 9amHealth app. This score reflects your level of engagement with your program activities. After the healthy weight journey (12-week program) is complete, you need to keep your score above 50. Every 30 days, your score resets and starts at 20 points—just for being here. From there, you can earn additional points by completing program activities. Reaching your target score helps keep your medication refills moving smoothly.

How to build your Consistency Score

Start Fresh - 20 points
Every month, you start with 20 points just by showing up, because it’s great that you’re here.

Weight Tracking - Up to 40 points
Track and log your weight consistently. Use the connected scale we’ve sent you to automatically update your weigh-ins in the 9amHealth app and with the Care Team. Each weigh-in is worth 10 points, up to 4 every 30 days (max. 40 points).

Program Interactions - Up to 40 points
Engage with your program consistently. Initially, program interactions are tied to completing the healthy weight journey module. Once complete, a variety of interactions qualify, including completing tasks, getting your labs done, scheduling virtual meetings, reviewing curated articles, scanning your plate with the Meal Insights feature, and chat interactions. Each interaction earns 10 points, up to 4 every 30 days (max 40 points).

What if my score is low?
If your score drops, use the opportunity to reconnect with the Care Team and engage to stay on top of your health goals. Staying engaged helps ensure you get the maximum benefits from the program.
